Brooding In The Moonlight

Bet you didn't think you'd find me here tonight! I felt like my baby died! So I guess I'll be easing off gradually, instead of cold turkey......

We've been going to the track to walk most evenings, but the OC was tired tonight, long day on the phone, so I sallied forth into the moonlight alone, just around the neighbourhood. The pine trees stood dark against the pearly, moonlit sky; the air was still; but, when I reached the lake behind us, the silence bristled with insect song and the croaking of frogs. As I walked towards the water, the boardwalk glowed silver from the light of the moon. Some ducks out in the reeds were having a family meeting. I could hear the muted quacks from where I stood, leaning against the railing. Thinking. Wishing I were a frog, or an insect, or a duck. Because all of the above have built in systems for communicating, which seem to work much more efficiently than human efforts to do so.....

Oh Molly, I so relate to this post!! I keep wanting a cat, as I feel it will somehow be my saviour of sanity. Stupid, I know.

Keep at it by all means, please Molly. I have just been out to look at the moon: it is a lovely clear night and it looks just perfect. So often it is rainy or cloudy at full moon, but not tonight, and so I am happily gratified. I might even howl at it...

sometimes the best medium for communication is silence

Cats are generally under appreciated. I think Casper, our cat, heartily agrees. Even when we can't communicate our innermost thoughts to each other, the Bean, myself and the OC [I'm making assumptions here!] confide in the all understanding, unconditionally loving, non-judgemental, purring for all, regardless of race, creed, religion or tendency to think illogically, or to entertain daft notions of life and reality [whatever THAT is!] resident feline. And thusly manage to hang on to what passes around here for S.A.N.I.T.Y.

All of this accomplished through the medium of silence, as Pauline so sagely points out. Except for the very loud purring of course!

Ha! You couldn't stay away from us! The frogs might have their croaking and the cats their purring, but you....you, Molly Bawn, have your Blog!!!

I was so glad to find a post! :) I was sad at the thought of you going incognito! :) I haven't had a lot of time to comment, but have enjoyed reading your nablopomo posts-and was happy to discover a December post, too! :) Hope you're feeling well these days!

I definitely don't want to be a frog or a duck. I wouldn't fancy eating things from ponds.

Keep posting, Molly! We like your method of communication.

Wow, posting every day....discipline, perseverance, and sheer tenacity to speak your words. It's like taking a photo each day, you have to look and with writing, you have to notice so you can write about it. Perfect thoughts.

Sometimes living with another is even lonelier than being alone because we never really know what is in someone else's heart and mind. Being in the natural world is about as healing as it gets because it is so conducive to communicating with our own souls.

I do love the companionship of a cat. Silent conspiritors, cats ;)

Here in Minnesota, I sometimes like to take my glasses off and go walking late at night when it's snowing. Fuzzy eyesight makes the snowflakes look like comets.

The "Celtic" book you saw in my sidebar could be one of three:

Celtic Mysteries
The Celtic Shaman
Encyclopedia of Celtic Mythology

Christmas comes but once a year
And perhaps it's just as well.
With food and drink and bonhomie
Our tummy's prone to swell.

But it is a chance to tell our friends
The ones too oft neglected,
That we're glad they're there
A friendship much respected.

Thank you.
May you Christmas be merry and the New Year everything you wish for.

Please write, even though I so rarely get a chance to read. Makes it all the more special when I can...
