It's the Little Things....

Beautiful day at the nature preserve.

Blue sky, warm sun --- felt good.

Quiet as we walked.....unless you count

the hum of insects,

the whir of bird wings,

the lap of lake water,

the rustle of reeds,

the fall of footsteps

the racous cries of cranes,

the splash of fish jumping,

the swish of sand as a tortoise hurries home....

Okay, not quiet,

but the best kind of noisy.

Lovely and lucky you. It is freezing here. All awfully silent and icy.

Nice. You are so right, it IS the little things....

The little things are HUGE in my world. My ever loving family told me 'small things for small minds', but my small mind revels in the ephemera you have listed.

The little things make everything worthwhile.

Bliss for us ... but perhaps not for the tortoise . Might have been rushing off on an urgent errand .

Vagabonde --- Indeed.

S&S --- He was just relaxing until I tried steathily sneaking up closer for a shot. But I was not stealthy enough! He took off at surprising speed across the brush with me and my camera in quiet pursuit, me thinking he'll stop long enough for me to get a photo, but he rounded a corner and dove into his burrow. I guess he just wasn't feeling sociable that day...

So that's the explanation of the Tortoise and the Hare. I never really bought into that nap scenario. Tortoises can run when they need to. Hmm.

Pam --- He just wasn't feeling photogenic that day! And yes, I too was surprised at how fast he moved since I was trying to be non-threatening, just wanting him to say "cheese!" Or at least hold still a minute....
