It started in kindergarten with pens and ink pots and blotting paper. Since then I've loved writing. Transferring the noise in my head to paper calms the chaos. If a worthwhile thought occasionally emerges, I'll keep it here with memories, stories and other random trivia, of interest mainly to myself and, with a bit of luck, to the odd passerby.
And she quilts, too! That is lovely. You are so interesting to me --- all the things you are interested in and throw in quilting. I've been hooked for about twenty hears. Now, I have my oldest daughter into quilting, also. My problem is that I make too may queen or king size quilts and find it hard to get them finished. I just put together a thirty-five block baby quilt. Seventeen blocks are embroiodered blocks --- I'm finally using my Bernia Artista. I love your colors and the isolation of that flower in the center of the blocks. Here's a picture of one I gave my new grand-daughter-in-law for her wedding shower. It is all batiks. http://cookiesoven.blogspot.com/2007/07/wedding-shower.html
Thanks for all the positive comments. I'm a great one for starting projects, not so great for finishing, so when I do, it is indeed a miracle....I started this early in January, to give myself plenty of time to get it done for my S-I-L's birthday. Needless to say it's already late! For once I followed a pattern. It's from "Colour Magic For Quilters" by Ann Seeley & Joyce Stewart.
Kacey---I followed your link. Your quilt is gorgeous... Lucky young couple! Heart---I'd be delighted if you used the picture. At first I'd stuck it up on the wall of the house, but when I uploaded it, it looked too blah. So I hied me off to the back and dangled it in a tree. The wind was strong yesterday, and gusty, so I had to click quickly between the gusts....but I was much happier with the results... Rise---Not everyone shares your opinion, but then not everyone's opinion matters to me as much as yours!
My machine is still smoking as I frantically try to finish my challenge entry for our quilt guild challenge---tomorrow. I started it yesterday. I've only known about it for three months. You can't teach an old dog new tricks. If I don't have an irresistible urge to stop the car and go to sleep in a ditch on my way home from guild tomorrow, I'll drag my bleary-eyed body to the library and check on what you've all been up to while I've been indulging my addiction. Ciao. Back to the sewing machine.....

I did wonder why you'd hung it in a wood. For the fairies, maybe? It's lovely.
Do you and Rise speak Gaelic, then? I went to a (Scottish) Gaelic class years ago but don't remember much, alas. A few phrases.
Late to the party, but I wanted to say that I'm sure the wood nymphs appreciate the quilt you made them :)
