Walking on the beach a few weeks ago we spotted this woman in the water.
There were other bathers all around her but she was oblivious to them all, totally focused on her book.
I was intrigued.
I like to read. I've been known to do it at the beach in spite of the lure of shells and swimming. I've even been known to read in the bathtub notwithstanding the possibility that I'll fall asleep and drown the book which wouldn't win me any brownie points at the library.
I was not, however, intrigued enough to wade out there and ask her what she was reading, but I'm still wondering.
My Guess is it was "How To Speak So Dolphins Will Really Listen." What do you think?

Wow. She out reads my reading obsessed self. Perhaps her family doesn't give her peace to read at home?
Perhaps it is a very steamy book, and she needed to cool down? Are you hsving a good time?315
Obviously 'The Waterbabies'.
That's such a great photo!
Odd! maybe it was step by step learn to swim?!
What a book woman! Can I copy that picture? I won't do it of you say no.
Maybe she needed to pee?
EC --- I don't know that I'd be able to relax reading in this situation with waves crashing around me, threatening to knock me over, gulls wheeling and screaming overhead... The woman must have amazing powers of concentration!
Persi --- Hmmm.... Didn't think of that! And as for a good time,I'm stressing about packing --- does that count as a good time??
RR --- Of course. Most obvious choice.
MJ --- So, holding your book in one hand and executing a crawl stroke with the other.....hmmm.
Denice --- By all means. I have to insist you share with me what you do with it though! Incurably nosy...
Blister! For shame! Why would she need a book for that?Is the phone working again?
Well, I was going to suggest something like "What to Do When Sharks Attack" but Little Blister definitely takes the prize for the most likely reason to be reading in the Ocean hahahaha!!!!
Anna --- That's because, in Ireland, when your bladder hits those freezing waters (yes, even in summer!)that's the first thing it wants to do!
Might be a diet book...?
Isabelle --- You could be onto something. It does look like she has some love handles there!
Huh, I read on the beach and in the bath, but never standing in the surf. I think she's reading Anne Morrow Lindbergh's "Gift form the Sea."
SAW --- A distinct possibility. Why didn't I think of that one?
